Leon's Gundam Hodge podge enters the arena. An odd mix of various mobile suits, this was his new unit, and this would be his first time using it. Leon stops his unit, and readies his Giant bazooka for combat.

Joshua sighed as his new Xamel Mk. II came to life in the Arena. His opponent was already here, making him the one late to the party. That didn't necessarily sit right with him - but what could he do about it now? He closed his eyes for a moment, checking that he had a connection with the psycommu system. Confirming that connection existed, he let the Xamel Mk. II glide to a stop about 15 meters away from the Gundam Hodge Podge.
There he waited, giving his opponent the chance for the first move while holding one of his shields up protectively.

Leon quickly activates his thrusters, and boosts sideways, opening fire directly at his oponents Xamel unit, using it's bazooka in conventional mode, both missile launchers, and his shoulder rail guns at the same time.

Joshua grimaced as multiple target locks lit up his HUD. Obviously, sitting still was going to be suicide. He wrenched his control sticks to the right and hauled the throttle forward, the Xamel Mk. II's thrusters on the suit's body and the twin shields burned to life. The Mobile Armor lumbered off to the side, narrowly missing the majority of the damage but the missiles arced in from above and hammered into the left-handed shield.
Undeterred, the Xamel was directed to use its strafing maneuver to transition into a clockwise turn around the enemy aiming to keep some distance between them. The Xamel's rail gun spat its cross hairs onto the Gundam's torso before following. That shot was soon followed by the missile plumes as all 8 missiles cut loose and screamed for the metal hide of Leon's suit.

Leon Moves quickly out of the way of the Rail gun shot, but not fast enough, leaving a mark to the side of his torso from it grazing him. He then quickly brings up his gattling gun shield, shooting down a few of the missiles comming his way, but is forced to take a few of the missiles to his Unit, doing some dammage. He returns fire with his missile launchers once more, adding, while bringing out his unit's dual Sonic swords, and combining them into their long sword form.

Joshua had a similar reaction to Leon, but whereas Leon used a gattling shield Joshua employed his leg-mounted beam gattlings to intercept the incoming missiles. Most were detonated, but as last time a few made it in - but Joshua hadn't stopped covering himself with his shields so they continued to soak up more damage. But emerging from the smoke of the missile impacts was all 10 of Joshua's Edged Bits, spreading out to flank the enemy while the Xamel sped out from the left side of the smoke cloud.
And as it slid to the side, its 680mm cannon was already folded down. All the warning Leon had was the chirping of his HUD warning of a target lock before Joshua fired - leading a shot into the enemy's torso.

Leon quickly activates his thrusters, pushing them to full speed, but fails to get completly out of the area of effect of the Xamel Cannon shot when it explodes nearby, throwing his suit forwards a bit. His unit takes a decent amount of dammage to it's extra exteranal armor, which he is quickly forced to expel from his suit. Leon quickly changes tactics, and boosts forwards at the oponent's Xamel, his Sonic Long sword himming, and swings for the bases directly at one of the large shields his oponent weilds.

And here we run into the flaw of mobile artillery - in melee they were worthless. But not helpless, knowing it was futile to try and jockey for a better position, Joshua counter-attacked the incoming sword lunge. With his shield, using the thrusters on the armor and shield alike to turn into the swing, deflecting it with the shield his foe was targeting. This caused a nasty gash to the shield, true, but it prevented it from being sliced off instantly.
But more importantly, with the Xamel Mk. II now turning in step with the Gundam Hodge Podge - Joshua's counter-attack had no problems achieving a precision target lock at close range. 20 beam gattling shots lashed out, aiming to pepper the Gundam's legs with beams and maul them to hinder his opponent's mobility before backing off - sending another 8 missiles towards Leon's backside as he let the other man pass in front of him.

((Well, might as well use this before it is gone next tier.))
Leon quickly brings up his prototype anti beam shield to block the blasts from the Beam Gattling guns. Though the shots are mostly blocked, a bit of the dammage gets through. Using his other shield, Leon Aims, and manages to take out a few of the incomming missiles, but the others manage to hit him in the back doing plenty of dammage.
Leon quickly decides to change tactics. He puts away the sonic sword, and reaches around to his pack, pulling out a Much bigger sword stored there, his Pack sword. Leon quickly activates his flight thrusters, and takes to the air, comming back down again, swinging the pack sword at the Xamel 2.

Joshua once again had a problem. Not so much the sword - but rather the fact that 75% of his weapons were reloading, giving him precious few options for a counter-attack or evasion. This effectively boxed Joshua into a corner of his own making, and even though it was earlier than he really wanted it - Joshua decided this was going to be the decisive moment of the fight.
Recalling his Edged Bits, Joshua used the thruster mounts on his guardian shields to quickly ensnare and hold the blade between the edges of the two shields. Though the extended weapon bit into the shield's edges - as it was a solid blade they should have been able to hold firm. Meanwhile, the Bits, having been able to flank behind and to all sides of Leon unhindered earlier - now raced back in to attack him from behind. As they were Edged Bits their intention was obvious - to slice the limbs of the Gundam Hodge Podge from its backside and disable the opposing mech.
But should that not work - Joshua wasn't out of options. The shoulder-mounted railgun swept downwards, aiming for the torso of the opposing Gundam. This effectively presented Leon with a lethal threat coming from two sides, and Joshua had hoped with his earlier attack to damage his opponent's mobility enough to make evading his attack an unlikely proposition. After all, if his enemy stopped to shoot at the bits - the railgun would get him. If he ducked the railguns, the Bits were free to swarm the enemy.
And that's all assuming his enemy lets go of the pack sword to enable himself to move out of the way. If he doesn't...

Leon simply disengages his flight thrusters, droping his unit to the ground, where his hover thrusters catch him with a bump. This forces his sword out of the grip of the shields, but does not allow Leon to use it right now, and also brings him out of the line of the bladed bits, though the rail gun does manage to do some dammage to his torso as he droped.
Leon, at close range, quickly opens fire with his missiles directly at the oponent's Xamel unit, not having the time to bring his bazooka into play to attack.

Joshua wasn't really sure how his trap managed to fail - but he was prepared for its failure nonetheless. People, after all, always thought there was a way to weasel out of everything. But the inverse was true - if there's a way to get out of every trap there was a way to fall into another trap. Which was pretty much what Leon did. Joshua wasn't kidding when he thought earlier that this was the deciding moment of the fight.
Joshua didn't try to block the missiles. They'd hurt - but his counter-attack would hurt more. The 680mm cannon, reloaded, dropped into line with the Gundam Hodge Podge's torso after the Xamel used its guardian shields to boost back, cutting its thrusters.
The coming explosion was big, and deadly for both combatants. But the difference was the Xamel's torso was nearly pristine in armor protection - the Gundam's was nowhere near. And the Edged Bits looped back around and renewed their attack from a variety of angles, looking to still score hits if somehow the Gundam managed to squeak away. Again.
