Cypher wasn't pleased with the results of his failed attack. He was further upset by how he was now being kicked again for his efforts. In fact, it seemed that his opponent put alot of stock in his ability to kick. Something Cypher would have to address sooner rather than later.
Feeling the kick rumble into his already scorched chest area, Cypher began to fall backwards from the impact. But instead of taking it unanswered, Cypher swiveled his right hand down from the interrupted uppercut onto the left shin of his opponent's leg. The energy stored in his right hand flashed brilliantly to the point that Cypher had to shield his mobile suit's optics with his left arm as he went down. A blast soon echoed through the arena as Cypher hit the arena floor hard, causing the shock to his temporary body to fuzz is vision with static for a moment.
Coming to his senses, Cypher knew that his opponent would not give him even a moment to rest, so rolling to the right, Cypher used the momentum of his movement to roll him onto his feet. Now in a crouched position, Cypher saw a cloud of smoke and fine, sandy dust from the blast, but as he looked around, he couldn't see any sign of his opponent.

Valen swore as his opponent blasted off one of his legs. "Well so much for that." He sighed as his opponent and himself both fell to the ground from the impact, sending a large cloud of dust into the air. Before he rose to his foot (using his thrusters to counter balance) he marked where his opponent had rolled. With a grin he brought both his hands together, combining the beam energy from both and firing a large beam from his palms. The recoil from the attack sent the mobile suit flying backwards to the other side of the arena. However he was able to correct his mobile suit and slide to a stop using his thrusters before he hit the wall.

Searching for the enemy mobile suit, Cypher wasn't using his usually keen situational awareness and was startled when his alarms went off, warning him of an incoming attack. Turning his head around to face the direction the attack was indicated to be coming from, Cypher had just enough time to see the beam before the energy bored through his mobile suit's face, causing everything to go dark.
Audibly spitting his disgust, Cypher had to wait a moment for his backup cams to kick on. Once he was able to see to some degree in black and white, Cypher found his opponent, missing a leg and trying to stabilize himself to avoid hitting another wall as he was forced backwards obviously from the recoil of the shot that took out Cypher's main eyes.
Not really wanting to go kind of blind again, Cypher sighed to himself as he decided to slip silently into the smoke still hanging in the air. Though he could barely see through it, he took slight comfort in knowing that his opponent for this battle wouldn't be able to see him either. Not as long as he remained under even the slightest cover of smoke.
Moving closer to where he way-pointed the enemy mobile suit's last known location, Cypher allowed his wrist blade to slide out of the concealed sheath, the blade cracking to life with the sizzle-hiss of the plasma energy it was charged with. If Cypher wanted to end this, he would have to catch his opponent off guard and sink his plasma blade deep into the enemy's torso from behind like he did to so many of his other UE opponents.
After all, sometimes victory could only be gained from stealth and not from just going in there and tearing them apart.

Wary that his opponent had yet to reveal himself again Valen drew his beam saber but did not ignite it. Instead he blasted forward, entering a quick hovering spin and firing his gatling cannons, using the generated wind to push the dust further away and the gatlings to signal out his enemy.

Noticing his smoke cover begin to shift behind him, Cypher decided that it was time to act. Whipping his heat rod forward, Cypher made sure that it cleared through the smoke to his opponent before he came bursting out of the smoke himself.
The heat rod slithered through the air towards the opposing mobile suit to serve as a distraction to Cypher's real attack. He didn't really care if the enemy slashed at his heat rod and cut it off, just as long as Cypher closed the gap fast enough to stab his plasma blade right into the enemy's torso. He just wanted the whip to buy him enough time and to keep the opponent distracted long enough for him to strike.
The heat rod flew true right to where Cypher wanted it to fly. To his enemy's left arm. It didn't matter if it snagged it or got cut, Cypher was already moving at full burn to his opponent with death behind his every action. He just needed a few more moments. His right hand shot forward, the blade aimed for the enemy's torso. Just a little longer...

Valen did the one thing he could think of to survive. The moment he saw the whip fly towards him he dropped, using his thrusters to plant him firmly onto his back. As he fell he began a one handed overhead diagonal slash with his beam saber while switching his left hand to mode 2 and firing a blind shot.

Cypher was going to fast to stop in time. As soon as the enemy dropped to his backside swinging, Cypher stumbled trying to stop, causing him to lose control of his heat rod, allowing the opponent's beamsaber to cut off about a third of the electrically charged whip.
Curling into a ball as he rolled over the other mobile suit, Cypher barely was able to avoid the beam attack fired at him, the shot grazing his shoulder armor as he went over, tumbling and rolling into the arena wall nearby.

Valen wasted no time in attacking, rising quickly to his one leg (again using the thrusters) he hurled his beam saber in a spinning arc at his opponent before positioning his bladed shield in a stabbing position and dashing forward at full speed. He extended his now charged right hand to plant it against his opponents chest.
