Ralizing that close range combat was not an optimal option anymore, Kris released the wrench and jettisoned upward. The feet of his machine were gone and the waist and legs were in poor condition after suffering the cannon blast. Grabbing the sniper rifle from the back mount again, he took aim with all his available weaponry and opened fire before he was even half a mile away. Focusing the rifle on the head and torso of the GM while using shoulder vulcans to try and shred the arms.

While he had managed to hit the thing, the guy had jetted backwards and opened fire with his vulcans and long gun. The vulcans were easily dodged, but the long gun connected, hitting his chest right above the cockpit throwing him off-balance for a brief moment. Quickly he returned his saber to his back and grabbed his beam rifle and fired off a shot at the the point between the legs and the torso.
His four remaining bits returned to their container for the meantime as it wouldn't be wise to have them charge across a field where they could be easily picked off.

Predicting the trajectory of the beam wasn't hard and it was clear that the attack could be a game breaker. To avoid he boosted sideways as it would get him out of the way faster. The dodge was mostly successful since only a slight melting was inflicted upon the machine. At this point, it's time for some more strategic maneuvers. Using the booster, he flung himself and the Genoace erratically around the field. There was no pattern and no plan for this course but to confuse the enemy and fire for the chest every time the Genoace changed direction.

Because of the path the Genoace was taking, the shots weren't aimed as well as they could have been and so made it very easy to dodge them. He was quite pleased with himself on that. However, seeing as he wasn't about to chase his flighty opponent, he figured it would be wiser to adopt a similar approach and follow an unpredictable pattern of his own on the other side of the arena. He replaced his rifle on his back and pulled out his beam saber, keeping the energy off for now. He couldn't see an open shot for now so in the meantime he would take evasive maneuvers.

Exactly as planned. His opponent had disengaged their ranged combat giving him a temporary advantage due to the sensory system Kris had installed.
With this, the Genoace shot itself directly above the GM and aimed for the head while aiming it's vulcans to it's sides and cannons in front and behind it. Before firing it trailed for a bit, trying to predict the pilots next turn once he evaluated his decisions in the turns. Once he thought he could predict the next turn, all at once, every weapon that could shoot on the Genoace unleashed a hail of bullets upon the competition.

Thankfully because he was already in motion it was a simple matter to avoid the attacks, the ground exploding as he narrowly avoids defeat, his suit heating up from the near hits. Then, with his opponent in range and not moving around so much, he rotated his shoulder cannon and fired straight at him. He then released his remaining four machine gun bits and had them fire at the Genoace as well. After that he activated his beam saber and adopted the falcon position, with his blade held high over his head.

Irritated at the waste of his barrage, Kris had to formulate a new plan. This next one was crazy, but it might just work. He changed targets and fired at the bits with the Rifle and Vulcans while making a point to stay mobile and away from the GM and it's sabre.

With his failure to strike down the suit once again, he was finding himself on the verge of being without bits as two more were destroyed leaving him with only two. Seeing no other option, he recalled them to their container. Putting away his saber, he grabbed his beam rifle and followed the Genoaces movements before carefully pulling the trigger.

This was it, everything or nothing, the final charge. After narrowly avoiding the snipers fire, he opened up suppressing fire from the Vulcans and snatched his wrench back off the floor. From there, he swung the wrench back and charged at his opponent. Thrusting it forward, he tried to keep the gap aligned to grab the suit in the wrenches opening.

But it seemed his opponent was determined to fight on, and had charged at him guns blazing and his huge wrench swinging. The vulcans slammed into his GM, pushing him backward. The wrench was a bigger problem. Fortunately his cannon had recharged and so he rotated it on his shoulder and fired at the approaching Genoace. He didn't have a lot of time to grab his beam saber, so, dropping the rifle he lifted his arm to his pack in one movement and drew it. It activated barely intercepting the large weapon wielded by his opponent. Unfortunately the wrench had more momentum and so forced him to his knees.

And with that, the time ran out on the fight. The tournament had been limited to a short amount of time per match. After confering with the judges on who had taken the least amount of dammage, it was agreed that Walter was the winner of the fight, as most of the dammage had only been done to his bits. The fighter steped into the arena.
"The winner of this round 1 match is Walter. He will continue on to round 2."
